Why do we wear seat belts?
The big question everyone asks is why do I have to wear this, or why is this a law? Well obviously it is to keep us safe. Some kids or people think it's uncool to wear but if it's going to keep you from flying through the wind shield then I would wear it. We wear seat belts to stop deaths from occurring in a car crash or also to stop you when you come to a quick stop.
What can happen if you don't wear a seat belt?
The big question here is what can happen if we don't wear a seat belt. If we don't wear a seat belt it can cause many things such as concussions, bad injuries, and even death. But I want to talk about concussions. A concussion occurs when you hit your head or certain parts of your neck can cause your brain to hit your skull. Most concussions happen as a result of a collision with an object, while another object is moving at a high speed. If you hit your head with a great amount of force it could cause your brain to hit your skull with a great amount of force and cause a concussion. This goes back to Newton's Three Laws of motion and inertia. It has to do with inertia because the brain and skull have inertia. The brain is surrounded by spinal fluid in skull. The brain and skull are both moving at a constant velocity, when you are moving at a constant velocity too. When the skull changes it's velocity, due to sudden impact, the brain continues to move forward and hits the skull. This causes a concussion. Concussions could cause brain damage and they aren't fun. I suggest you wear a seat belt. The concussion button at the bottom of this page tells you more about how concussions are caused.
